You should be able to connect to the SSID NRM-Wlan
(but see Alternatives below).
Use your favourite tool to configure your wireless connection. Below are the
specific Wi-Fi security settings as displayed by *buntu's GUI tool
nm-connection-editor
.
- Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
- Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Anonymous identity:
- CA certificate: (None)
- No CA certificate is required
- PEAP version: Automatic
- Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Username: NRMUSERNAME
- Password:
The network provided by NRM-Wlan
is highly restricted. A much better alternative
is --- given that you are located in the KÖL building and is affiliated with
Stockholm University --- to use the SU
network. Then you can, after signing in
the <su.se> web page, use all necessary connections (ssh
, VPN, etc).
An alternative WiFi for guests would have been "Naturhistoriska riksmuseet", but this
network blocks ICMP traffic and port 22 (no ping
, no ssh
, etc). But if you don't
need anything else than web-browsing, this will work.
As an alternative, your guest could potentially use eduroam
. However at the
time of writing, Eduroam at NRM is not configured correctly (DNS issues) which
will hinder free usage of e.g. ssh
and ping
, etc.
Currently, there are no good recommendations for guests (other than from SU) to get full access to the outside world from behind the NRM firewall.
We have used mobile devices to get around the firewall issues, which is obviously not an acceptable solution.
Description on a working solution is most welcome.
Notes:
On *buntu, settings for the connection is stored in
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/NRM-Wlan-web2
