Introduction

It is not needed to add a unit to Homey but doing so allows you to:

  • Confirm correct set-up
  • See and track information about the unit such as uptime and CPU usage
  • Make sure Homey 'sees' the unit when you want to add new sensors

Step-by-step

* Add a new device to Homey * Select "ESP Easy" * Select "ESP Easy Unit" * Enter the IP address of the unit * If Homey already knows about the unit, you can select it from a dropdown list * Click "Connect" and wait for the unit information to show up * If you receive an error, make sure the unit is reachable * Homey tries to connect to http://<ip address>/json * Click "Next" * This step walks you through setting up Homey as a controller * If you have already done this, you can skip this step * Click [here](3.-Configure-Homey-as-controller) for more detailed instructions * Homey will show you if any events have been received from the ESP unit * You can click "Next" but It's best to make sure Homey can receive events * ESP Easy will only send out events for sensors. If you don't have any (yet), follow [these instructions](4.-Add-a-"System-info"-device) * When some events have been received, you can click "next" to add the unit
