It is not needed to add a unit to Homey but doing so allows you to:
- Confirm correct set-up
- See and track information about the unit such as uptime and CPU usage
- Make sure Homey 'sees' the unit when you want to add new sensors
- Add a new device to Homey
- Select "ESP Easy"
- Select "ESP Easy Unit"
- Enter the IP address of the unit
- If Homey already knows about the unit, you can select it from a dropdown list
- Click "Next" and wait for the unit to be polled for information
- If you receive an error, make sure the unit is reachable
- Homey tries to connect to http://<ip address>/json
- If you have already set up Homey as a controller, the new unit will be added and you are finished!
- If Homey has yet to receive events from the unit, it will walk you through setting up Homey as a controller
- Click here for more detailed instructions
- ESP Easy will only send out events for sensors. If you don't have any (yet), follow these instructions
- Click "Next" again
- Homey will show you if any events have been received from the ESP unit
- You can click "Next" but It's best to make sure Homey can receive events
- When some events have been received, you can click "next" to add the unit
You can add a new sensor or GPIO output device to Homey if you have one connected. Visit the Devices page on the ESP Easy wiki to find out what kind of sensors you can play with or just add a dummy device to play around a bit.
