PXPlay: Windows, Linux, macOS Port Release (v1.3.0)/ Android Release (v6.6.0)

PSPlay was renamed to PXPlay!

This release brings several new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes, enhancing both usability and stability. PXPlay, previously known as PSPlay, can now also be downloaded and used on Intel and Silicon Macs.

To use PXPlay you need a license key which can be purchased here. Windows, Linux and macOS share the same license key, while the Android APK requires its own license.

General Updates and Improvements

  • User Interface and Usability:

    • Added full support for macOS on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
    • Introduced a toggle for the "Show Launch Pad" behavior in Gamepad Settings on macOS.
    • Added a new option to reset gyro sensor data (disabled by default)
    • Updated gamecontrollerdb mapping file for SDL2.
  • Performance and Stability:

    • Improved rendering performance on macOS with hardware-accelerated Vulkan rendering (MoltenVK).
    • Fixed high CPU usage on macOS by introducing an optimized operating mode setting.
    • Fixed an issue where streams could become stuck due to bitstream parsing.
    • Enhanced handling of window resizing and scaling for macOS, ensuring proper UI rendering on Retina displays.

macOS-Specific Improvements

  • Introduced a minimum macOS version requirement (12.7).
  • Added NSHighResolutionCapable entry for high-DPI rendering.
  • Addressed issues with HDR rendering on macOS, though some crashes remain under specific conditions on older Macs.
  • Added support for 1-channel microphone input.

Notable Bug Fixes

  • Fixed improper scaling of the rendering UI on macOS using libplacebo.
  • Addressed issues with fullscreen shortcuts on macOS, changing the shortcut to F12 for better alignment with macOS standards.
  • Fixed various issues with window resizing and scaling.

Licensing

To access the full version of PXPlay, a valid license is required. Licenses can be purchased here.

Each platform requires its own license key, except for Linux and Windows, which share a single key.
