Context

Distrokid is a company that distributes user's releases to DSPs like Deezer, Spotify and Apple Music.

They collect the master recording royalties from these services, and pass them back to the user (could be a label, could be an artist self-releasing) minus a fee.

The sales reports are in .tsv format and are very large.

Columns

(A) Reporting Date

The date that the report was received.

YYYY-MM-DD

(B) Sale Month

The month that the usage happened. (DSPs report to distributors monthly)

YYYY-MM

(C) Store

The store that generated the usage.

e.g. Apple Music, Deezer, Napster

(D) Artist

The name of the artist.

(E) Title

The title of the work / product.

(F) ISRC

The International Standard Recording Code or the recording.

If the usage is for an Album, then this will be blank as only a Tune can have an ISRC.

(G) UPC

Universal Product Code.

If the row is for a Song, then the UPC will be for the Album which is the Product

(H) Quantity

How many of the song/album are being reported in this row.

(I) Team Percentage

The percentage of the reported usage that is to be allocated to the user.

DistroKid allow users to split revenue on their platform, so collaborators or rights holders that have a (paid) DistroKid account can get their money directly withouth relying on a single user to process, calculate and distribute royalties.

e.g. 100, 30

If it is 100 then there are no collaborators listed on DistroKid's Splits. That doesn't mean there are no collaborators.

If it is 30 then the user has received 30% of the reported usage. The earnings column reflects this, so no further calculations are necessary by TS.

However, it doesn't mean that all of the processing has been done, just because there has been a split.

The split could be to two labels, each with their own deals and expenses.

(J) Song/Album

Whether the usage is for a Song or an Album.

NOTE: This is important for columns (F) and (G)

e.g. Song or Album

(K) Country of Sale

Country code. e.g. US, JP, AU

(L) Songwriter Royalties Withheld

TBC

(M) Earnings (USD)

The amount that was earned for the reported usage. In USD.
