GSIP 138 - Promote Vector Tiles to Extension

The vector tiles community module is seeing active use, this proposal captures the steps required to make it a supported extension.

Motivation

To supporting vector tiles as a WMS output format.

Proposal

The following checklist is from the developers guide:

• The module has at least a “handful” of users

  This module is included in the downstream OpenGeo Suite 4.8 release, and has been the subject of several feature requests on the mailing list.

• The module has a designated and active maintainer

  The original author Gabriel has asked David Blasby to look after pull requests.

• The module is considered “stable” by the majority of the PSC.

  TBD

• The module maintains 40% test coverage

  Cobertura reports 59% total code coverage.

• The module has no IP violations

  Boundless has signed a contributor license agreement covering all participants, and is aware of GPL terms.

• The module has a page in the user manual

  Pending.

• The maintainer has signed the GeoServer Contributor Agreement

  Boundless has signed a contributor license agreement covering all participants.

Other Tasks

• Ensure Copyright headers are present in all files

• Run code formatter to ensure coding style consistency
