Technical note on the JW Library JWL media window

This information was correct at July 2018 (version 10.4.24257 of JW Library for Windows).

If you are using OnlyM in addition to JW Library®, and want to show the "start of meeting" countdown timer on the main media monitors, there can be some contention for the media display (TVs or projector).

In Windows 10 UWP apps there is an optional "full-screen" mode for applications and its windows. You can see this by opening JWL and pressing SHIFT-WIN-ENTER. Notice that this makes JW Library full-screen with no title bar. When in this mode, the application will automatically minimize when another application is brought to the fore on the same monitor (this is apparently a tablet-friendly feature but is not disabled by turning tablet mode off). Use SHIFT-WIN-ENTER to toggle between modes.

When the media window (e.g. year text or a video) is displayed, JW Library shows it in this special full-screen mode. This means that if you open another window (or even drag a window from another monitor onto it), it will minimize (Windows thinks you want to show something else and so pushes the JW Library media window out of the way). This makes it fairly fragile, so take care!

JwlMediaWin

Please see JwMediaWin which offers a solution to the interoperation between JW Library and other media applications like OnlyM.
