Cryostate
---------
Organic solar cell characterization was initially conducted at room temperature utilizing the setup as described above. However, to gain deeper insights into temperature-dependent mechanisms affecting light conversion within the solar cells, we enhanced our experimental setup by integrating a cryostat for temperature-dependent sEQE measurements.
The process involves loading the samples onto the temperature stage under standard conditions, establishing electrical connections via thin metal pins, and connecting the cryostat to the temperature controller, liquid nitrogen pump, and a liquid nitrogen-filled dewar. Prior to measurement,
the temperature stage is flushed with nitrogen for 5-10 minutes to remove water and oxygen within the cryostat. Subsequently, the cryostat is affixed onto a custom-built holder and aligned within the EQE setup. To prevent condensation during measurement, a thin plastic tube delivering warm nitrogen air is directed onto the quartz window.
Temperature settings and measurements are facilitated by our custom-built Python software and a propetary Windows program provided by the cryostat supplier. The cryostat’s temperature range spans from -196°C to +420°C, with most measurements on our organic solar cells conducted between -125°C and +80°C.
