It use emacs-lisp-mode-syntax-table previously to consider "." as part to a symbol, thereby make use of a company function to get symbol at point to complete. But it's not necessary to use emacs-lisp-mode-syntax-table globally for the mode, there's ‘with-syntax-table’.
