Create a release on tag push

Installation

Copy and paste the following snippet into your .yml file.

Choose a version

release-tag

This is a fork of actions/create-release with the following changes:

  • Automatically determine whether a tag is a pre-release by checking for presence of - followed by a letter in the tag name.
  • Use conventional-changelog to generate the changelog as release body.

Usage:

# When a tag is pushed, create a release

  push:
    tags:
      - "v*" # Push events to matching v*, i.e. v1.0, v20.15.10

    steps:
      - name: Checkout code

      - name: Create Release for Tag

        env:
          GITHUB_TOKEN: ${{ secrets.GITHUB_TOKEN }}
        with:
          tag_name: ${{ github.ref }}
          preset: angular # Use conventional-changelog preset

Possible values for preset: 'angular', 'atom', 'codemirror', 'ember', 'eslint', 'express', 'jquery', 'jshint'.
