I recognized that file upload did strange things. This was because the settings relation in the postgres DB pointed to a different location than was given in qiita's config file. Changes on the config are not automatically reflected in the DB!!
When selecting a different
BASE_DATA_DIR, theqiita-env makecommand failed, tough. This is because there was no mechanism present which would create the necessary sub-directories, referred to as "mount points".I am discussing with Antonio about an according PR to qiita: qiita-spots/qiita#3462
