INFO 201 Project Proposal
Group 18 Section BC
Group Members: Steven Hu, Vinson Liu, Ben Parker, Chi Chou

Domain of Interest: Video Games

For our final project, we are interested in gathering statistics on video games. For most of the pandemic, video games were a way to escape and socialize with other players and arguably helped reduce stress and improve mental health during this time. Some related projects include an article posted by USA Today in 2021, and api based websites such as light.gg and lol.wiz that gather statistics directly from games such as League of Legends and Destiny 2. We hope to answer questions around video game usage during the pandemic such as "How has COVID changed video game sales and popularity?", "How has video games impacted mental health during COVID?" and looking for negative impacts of video games with questions such as "How has COVID affected video game addiction?"

Datasets

For each dataset we answered the following questions:
- Where did you download the data (e.g., a web URL)?
- How was the data collected or generated? Make sure to explain who collected the data (not necessarily the same people that host the data), and who or what the data is about?
- How many observations (rows) are in your data?
- How many features (columns) are in the data?
- What questions (from above) can be answered using the data in this dataset?
