LYKSong

This is a lyric search application that allows users to search for songs based on their lyrics using the Spotify API and MusixMatch API. The application provides a preview of the song along with the lyrics, allowing users to listen to a snippet of the song before deciding to listen to the full track on Spotify.

Features

Lyric Search: Users can enter the lyrics of a song in the search bar and the application will retrieve songs that match the entered lyrics using the MusixMatch API.

Preview of Songs: The application provides a preview of the song along with the lyrics. Users can listen to a snippet of the song to get an idea of the melody and rhythm.

Song Details: The application displays information about the song, such as the artist, album, and playback time.

Link to Spotify: The application provides a link to the full song on Spotify, allowing users to listen to the complete track if they like the preview.

Technologies Used

Spotify API: The application uses the Spotify API to search for song links and track preview.

MusixMatch API : The application uses the MusixMatch API to search the song lyrics and matches it with the Spotify API.

Web Technologies: The application is built using modern web technologies, such as HTML5, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript.

Getting Started

To run the lyric search application locally, follow these steps:

  1. Clone the repository to your local machine.
  2. Obtain Spotify API credentials by creating a Spotify Developer account and creating a new application.
  3. Replace the placeholder values for the Spotify API credentials in the application's configuration file.
  4. Open the application in a web browser by navigating to the local URL where the application is hosted.

Usage

Enter the lyrics of a song in the search bar and click the search button. The application will retrieve songs that match the entered lyrics from the MusixMatch API. Click on a song from the search results to view the song details, including the song preview, lyrics, artist, album, release date, and popularity. Click on the Spotify link to listen to the full song on Spotify.

Finally, we have the search history drop down menu where a user can not only see previous results but they can also click on these options to return to their results page.

Limitations

The application relies on the accuracy and availability of lyrics data from the Spotify API. If the lyrics data is incomplete or inaccurate, the search results may not be accurate.

The application requires an internet connection to access the Spotify API and retrieve song data.
