Oklab is a new perceptual colorspace developed by Björn Ottosson, designed to be simple to use, while doing a good job at predicting perceived lightness, chroma and hue.

In laymen terms, this color space is better for some operations coz it generates smoother gradient and is not limited by today's tech.
