It did not actually change anything, right? It's just proposing a PR. We are not forced to merge it. Or I misunderstood what you mean?

It's good to have this PR, we should just make sure a compatible upgrade is made to other components.

Indeed, I didn't realize it was just a PR. Then it is useful

Looks like importlib-metadata is updatable in another way, so this is no longer needed.
