Blacklight is a general-relativistic ray-tracing code, used to create images of black hole accretion flows from magnetohydrodynamical simulations.

The code is designed to work with Athena++ GRMHD data, including mesh refinement and in either spherical or Cartesian coordinates, as well as with the modified Kerr–Schild coordinates of iharm3D. It models synchrotron emission from the plasma as it would appear to an observer, in addition to a large number of other quantities.

Initial development is now complete, and the method paper has been published.

The source code is placed into the public domain. This includes all parts of the main repository and the wiki.
