I think you can write to sector 256 (seek=128) and still have it booting. This way you don't corrupt the GPT table (if someone choose to use it):
Here is the command I use to flash Allwinner's vendor U-Boot as a reference:
sudo dd if=boot0_sdcard.fex of=/dev/sdb bs=512 seek=256
sudo dd if=boot_package.fex of=/dev/sdb bs=512 seek=32800

Thanks for the info, I'll try compiling in GPT and DOS to confirm...

It does indeed work on mbr but I have not been able to find a working gpt example that works for me. It does not go beyond u-boot

The original offset is 100% broken with GPT (which uses first 34 sectors), so this is at least not a regression.
U-Boot being incompatible with GPT is a separate issue. I heard the vendor U-Boot calculates GPT CRC32 differently, so not sure if the fork you are using have the same issue.
Update from mainstream
Add support for Radxa Cubie A5E with linux 6.12, initial support for Allwinner A523/A527/T527 by Andre Przywara.
