At first glance the two models seem very similar, and for many students first learning about differential and difference equations it may seem like there is no significant difference between the two approaches. They even produce similar results under certain circumstances, and if anything the discrete model may seem intuitively easier to understand. However, the discrete model begins to exhibit some very strange and chaotic behavior if the intrinsic growth rate becomes large enough. This behavior is unique to the discrete model, and nothing like it occurs in the continuous model.

This is a demonstration meant for use in discussing the [epsilon-delta](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limit_of_a_function#(%CE%B5,_%CE%B4)-definition_of_limit) definition for the limit of a function. Most calculus courses begin by discussing the limits of functions, since the derivative is defined as the limit of a difference quotient. For the purposes of an elementary calculus class it is enough to have an intuitive understanding of what the limit represents (that the value of the function get "closer and closer" to the limit as the input gets "closer and closer" to some value) without really needing a mathematically precise definition, but the explanation given in most classes might seem uncharacteristically wishy-washy and hand-wavey for mathematics, at which point they may or may not be introduced to the _real_ definition of the limit.
