“[The current site] is really difficult to navigate.”
“This kind of organization makes a lot of sense, I think the title of it being federal guidelines throws me off. When I think federal guidelines I think much more statutory information, I think there might be a more friendly way of referring to that. Maybe it’s the federal parts that’s throwing me, maybe just ‘Writing Guidelines.’”
“I think the most effective things for me is to see what not to do, and then an explanation. Examples are the thing that really helped me understand it. I’m looking for what it should look like. If I saw examples of bad links, then I might realize that I might not be good at it.”
“Have the example with the guideline — give people what they need where they need it.”
“I’m looking for something to help me do my job quickly (referencing the utility of examples). Have an example that has the word ‘Avoid’ and then a good one with green that says ‘Good.’ Showing people exactly what they mean by the explanation. I think that examples are really helpful.”
“I found that a lot of decks where heavy on jargon, I wanted to focus on the reader and structural elements as being the places to start. Things like ‘Using words your audience can understand’ with folks that don’t know their audience doesn’t make sense.”
“Resources that are specific to trainers and takeaway items for regular users. I love the checklists, have something that someone can take and hang up in cube - concise principles, help them stay engaged.”
“We could use shorter one-pagers... Something people can pin up in their cubes would be great.”
