The mxj and mxj~ objects require that a version of the Java Development Kit be installed on your system and accessible to the objects.

On the Mac you can get Java 1.8 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
If you later need to remove it, you can run sudo rm -rf /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_91.jdk in the Terminal.
sudo rm -rf /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_91.jdk
