Skybox Background Looks Blurry #2
Comments
Can you elaborate on it? Do I understand correctly that you want floating windows in the space and have ability to pan? If so, please create new issues to track those feature requests.
To be frank, I don't know. Maybe I need tweak something in qtquick3d to get crispier skyboxes, I will take a look the next time I have a chance. |
Hi zzag, Thank you for taking your time to answer all my previous questions. Yes, that is correct. I think there used to be an option to enable/disable floating windows in previous cube effect. To clarify what I meant by moving y axis more, it looks like we can only tilt the cube in y direction so much (about 45 degree) right now but it used to tilt all the way to 90 degree before. As for skybox, yes definitely let me know when you have a chance to take a look. For some reason, it looks blurry on my end no matter which image I set it to. Thank you again for bringing this awesome feature back to kde. :) P.S. Best |
I looked how to fix the blurriness, but unfortunately I don't see anything useful. I played with antialiasing, it didn't help. I tried using skyboxes with higher resolution, it didn't change anything that much. qtquick3d is actively developed and there is new stuff in SceneEnvironment in Qt 6. I think it's worth checking whether changing the tonemapping mode and things as such helps in the Plasma 6 times, which should kick off soon after 5.27 release. |
Thank you so much for this awesome kwin effect. I've been waiting for this so long. I just wish this works as virtual desktop switching animation too. There are only fade/slide at the moment.
In addition, it would be nice if we can move y axis bit more and have 3d windows effect like before.
That said, overall I'm really impressed by this new cube effect. I love how cube is applied separately in two different screen when i use dual monitor now. The only issue I'm having with the latest version is that images in skybox looks blurry if I add panoramic images as a background such as the following:

Is it supposed to be blurry like that? if not then what kind of image is it compatible with?
Thank you in advance
