First I'm sorry that this project never came to its full potential, I was really looking forward on getting my hands one one.

Following your announcement from the newsletter where you will open source the design file, how does one source the components needed for assembling one of this boards? I assume the majority of the components can be bought via digikey/mouser/premier what about the SATA controller (Marvell 88SE9215) ?

How was component sourcing done during the development phase of the project?

thanks
Vlad

The component sourcing was done through the contact in China (factory). Usually, if you approach factories they have a procurement manager who'd find all the necessary components. Marvell 88SE9215 wasn't an exception. It was also available here https://lcsc.com/

Awesome thanks for the files, would it be possible to export the schematic to pdf?

LCSC doesn't stock that part anymore, can you share the fab where the first prototypes were assemble?

is this project permanently dead or just sort of on hiatus due to the chip shortage?

I also would like to get one of these for a project. I would assume getting 1 produced would be cost prohibitive though

Hey guys. We do not plan to produce the board in a near feature. Sorry!

We open-sourced it because we thought that someone might pick it up and develop further :)

@braginini what is the actual reason you halted development?
Is there a specific issue with a certain component or performance of the combination of components?
Or was the reason you abandoned the project due to lack of interest?

It would be great to know your reasons, so that the next person who might want to pick up where you left off does not needlessly step in the same pitfalls.

By now there is no parts shortage anymore, I'd love to see someone picking up this project again!
