Sensor required when installing driver? #1

I have tried to install the driver without a sensor connected to raspberry pi. Some errors occured, which can be seen below:

I'm wondering whether the sensor need to be connected when installing the driver, or other factors caused the errors.
I completely followed instructions in "readme", and my system is Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit.
I'll be more than greatful if you could answer my question!
