tab.active_pane.domain_name not changing on a remote host

I am trying to set the hostname as tab title, and have the following config:

wezterm.on('format-tab-title', function(tab, tabs, panes, config, hover, max_width)

end)

This works only when I use wezterm ssh ... . But If I am SSHing normally, the tab title doesn't change from local. Is this intended behavior?

multiplexing domains are a wezterm concept. If you run some other command that happens to login somewhere else, that is not happening inside a wezterm multiplexing domain, so no change in domain occurs.

I see. Thank you. I am trying to get around this by creating the following function in my shell config:

if [ "$TERM" = "xterm-256color" ]; then
      ssh () {
    	wezterm ssh $@ &>/dev/null & disown
    }
fi

This creates a new Wezterm window. It's not really a dealbreaker, but is there any way to open it in a new tab instead?

Update: I found the solution in one of your replies in another thread. The answer is to use wezterm cli spawn --domain-name SSH:host. Thanks for the help.
