following the recent releases of distros shipped with Gnome DE, it seems that cursors themes are now differently handled by Mutter which now "wants cursor names that conform to the CSS spec".
All cursors themes which don't follow these guidelines are now considered as legacy when it comes to Gnome.
However they partially work, the biggest issue is the pointer showing a grey square when the cursor moves over over the desktop or a top bar.
I'm no dev so i don't understand how to proceed the right update but i can help if someone provides a way.
Thank you !
