Welcome to the USWDS Web Component discussion board! Use this space to suggest and discuss the next big evolution of USWDS, which will be using Web Components.

To participate here, you must agree to follow our community guidelines.

Participating in GitHub Discussions requires a GitHub account. If you're not able to get a GitHub account, reach out to us via email, and we will add your contribution to the discussion board.

Ways to participate

Opening a discussion

If you have feedback, requests, or ideas that no one else has raised yet, get a conversation started with a new discussion. The USWDS team uses this input, along with direct research with agency teams and best practices, to inform our decisions as we're building.

First, review the current discussions to see if anyone else already raised what you want to discuss. If so, you can share ideas and add information or context to the discussion, or just express your interest. If your idea might be more current USWDS component-specific, you might consider adding a component proposals.

If a discussion doesn’t exist, create one. These discussions are the place to talk through the merits of suggestions, feedback, or ideas, in collaboration with the community and the USWDS team.

You can also use the uswds-public Slack channel or reach out to peers to get feedback and support.

Contributing to an existing discussion

Every discussion benefits from more input. We encourage you to add information, research, and solutions, share opinions, and ask questions. Any relevant information that you add to a discussion can help make the case for an idea or lend proof toward a potential decision.

What's most useful to the USWDS team

For new ideas, linking to supporting evidence and research whenever possible is super helpful. We'd like to hear more about:

• Why USWDS should consider this idea or feedback. You could include key interactions, use cases, current gaps in USWDS, and the problems that could be solved, including how it might support federal laws, guidance, or policies.
• Real-life examples
• Usability considerations
• Accessibility considerations
• Who it might benefit
