Chromecast broken on 98. cast-media-route-provider flag no longer available

I'm using elostons unportable on ubuntu focal

I just upgraded to 98.0.4758.102

it reports no chromecasts available (but chrome has no problem finding them)
(prior version 94 no issue with missing chromecasts)

I noticed that the cast-media-route-provider flag is no longer available.

no other related available flags solve the issue. (search flags for "cast")

What has changed? Is this intended or a bug? What is the fix? (the FAQ may need an update)

FYI I do have Widevine CDM installed for this instance/version.
