Just a quick update.

Thank you to everyone who gave feedback and suggestions.
I know it has been a long time since I did any work on this skill and that it has since broken due to changes in both Jellyfin and Mycroft.
I just started a new job so I do not have a lot of free time at the moment but I will start working on this skill again over the next couple of weeks to get it back into a working state.

I just got 4-speaker array for one of my Raspberry Pi's, I also pre-ordered a Mark II and invested in MyCroft Inc so that should motivate me.

I did some debugging today and discovered the following:

• There have been many changes to the Jellyfin API
  • Names of some variables have changed.
    • https://api.jellyfin.org/
    • This should be trivial to fix and tidy up
    • Going to remove the API key requirement.
    • Will just use username/password for authentication.
• I think support for some audio backends for mycroft has been removed.
  • mpg123 is not ideal as it cannot seem to handle jellyfin's URL's
    • eg; mpg123 "https://jellyfin.domain.org:443/Audio/289b82ee3d7a6df3c7c783765ab67368/stream?api_key=fakeapikey13445464574767&audioCodec=mp3&container=ts&TranscodingProtocol=hls&DeviceId=none"
    • we could use curl to download the file but I rather avoid that as it is messy.
  • I am pretty sure omxplayer used to be supported and is what I used to use on picroft for this skill.
  • Trying to get the official mycroft audio backend to support omxplayer or mplayer would be ideal for music skills.

Any way, just a quick update of where I am at. I will try to put in a couple of hours each weekend.
First step is just to get some basic functionality working again (Goal for this is Nov 09, 21).

Another thing I have noted, is the default timeout in the common play frame work is far too low for Raspberry Pi 3. At the default setting picroft will give up before the API query has completed. This is not an issue on powerful desktops but will cause problems on Raspberry Pi's and therefore prob the MArk II as well.

Will need to figure out how to override the timeout and some queries to Jellyfin can take more time,

Made some tweaks today, which have been pushed into the dev-branch https://github.com/tuxfoo/jellyfin-skill/tree/dev-branch

It is working on my Manjaro desktop using VLC as the mycroft audio backend. It is not working on Picroft because it uses mpg123 by default which has limitations.
