K. Gopikrishna, Colombo informed through twitter message on 15-08-2014 that after installing the latest update for Windows 8.1 OS, many shift keys and comma key in Bamini (which he uses regularly) were not functioning as they should be.

Refer to this twitter conversation he initated with me: https://twitter.com/KanagaGopi/status/500178399889866752

He had found the same issues with another IME (i.e., NHM) too. The only solution he found is to roll back the update and restore prior state.

NHM's response in same twitter conversation informs they are working on the issue

I suspect that this happens with any IME when the specific update is made of and also that shift keys and other keys like comma could be malfunctioning in rest of the eKalappai-3 series key maps (Tamil99, Phonetic.. etc) also.

This is a request to all users of Windows 8.1 OS and eKalappai IME developers to check whether with the update this type of bug happen on all key maps of eKalappai and whether if any subsequent build after 15th August 2014 has addressed to the issue and fixed! Otherwise, can it be solved at the IME level?

Thanks for highlighting this. Didn't realise my recent SHIFT key issues were due this update.

I use phonetic keyboard on Win 8.1. The SHIFT works, but behaves as if it is stuck -- i.e. the behaviour is unpredictable. So, I may have to try about three times to get a "?" mark; same with "!", "(", ")", "^", ""<" and the rest. Frustrating for someone like me who types without looking at the keyboard or, even, the screen.

Update:
Have rolled-back the W8.1 update, and the Kalappai works fine for now. Phew! Hope a solution could be found soon.

Any solutions for this issue either from thamizha or windows side? Meanwhile can anyone please mention specifically which was the update (KB number) that introduced this.

@mugunth The bug wasn't / isn't there in Windows 7.x 32 bit as I see on my desktop / laptop installations with up to date with all patches. I think the bugs were there for Windows 7 64 bit version.

But yes, if the changes of @manikk in ekhook/dll.cpp is common for any version we need to check in Windows 7 all versions too!

Need your instruction on how to include this bug fixed dll in my eKalappai installation for Windows 7.x 32 bit and test. Thanks
