Android 16 may add support for running linux virtual machines

According to Android Authority, this will be similar to the current feature of ChromeOS. This will kill all demand for Termux, if people can just run full linux distros at close to native speed instead.

Is it time to start sunsetting this app?

Newer Android version release does not magically purge all copies of older Android versions. Also termux runs on Android itself and can use its functions, without possible VM overhead.

Termux isn't going away, and there will still be a need in future for running commands inside apps instead of a segregated VM anyways.

Decent point there about Termux having easier access to local files, but I suspect they will add some way to access those.

Have you looked into AVF at all: does it allow running a full-blown OS on the same hardware, ie will you be running a whole separate kernel for the distro in the VM, like WSL2 added for Windows? If so, would it be possible to run other OSs too, like the BSDs, assuming they added support for the same hardware?
