I am Markus from germany and want to tell you about the little side project "despresso".
It was more or less started as a little idea to play around with a new technology - but after talking about it in the coffee community - it gained alot of attention.
There is a small group of very special espresso geeks which are dedicated to their espresso machines (here we support the decent de1) and like to get most out of the available technolgy.
The factory supplied app was ok but it is based on a rather cluncky and hard to develop for programming environment - and maybe more important for a lot of people - it is not portable to be run on iPad or iOS in general (going against all Appstore requirements).

So the despresso app was born and launched in Beta in the beginning of March for iOS and Android.

To support more hardware like different scales and thermometers we like to get a funding for it. The app is free to use and should keep this way. Funding of hardware is needed to maintain it over time...

Goal is to iterate faster than the stock factory app supplied from decent. Be more resonsive and faster. The UI should also be better overall than the default app.
Also - we are open to contributors to add valuable insights to the app - like more functionality but also give us suggestions on how to improve the workflow via a better UX design.
