On the remote wiki:

I went to Configuration Manager -> Authentication section

The was a checkbox beside the section that read:

"remotesecurity Enable the remote API system. This allows other applications to access the wiki via XML-RPC or other mechanisms."

I checked that box.

I filled in the sync profile, clicked "Save" and get that error "transport error - HTTP status 403"

When I enter the URL directly into the browers I get: "XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only."

I saw this previously:

You need to configure remote user probably
https://www.dokuwiki.org/config:remoteuser

I have the same error as you wallreport until I specified an actual admin username rather than @admin. But that only solved it a little bit further. Then I get:

I am getting "Synchronization...The synchronization process has been initiated. Check the progress below." followed by the error: "Failed to fetch remote time. transport error - HTTP status 418".

I am using a valid admin username. I could not get it to work whatsoever all using @admin group. At least with a valid admin username it would list the files to sync, but then fails to sync them. I am using the latest version -- DokuWiki Release 2018-04-22b "Greebo" on both the local Dokuwiki on a Stick and on the remote hosted at my ISP.
