I am thinking about working on this gem. What issues are you facing as far as getting the gem functional?

@acreilly I think the better apporach would be to work on https://github.com/solidusio/solidus_braintree instead. It uses the new hosted fields which is more PCI friendly, and has a paypal method that works via the modal instead of the express checkout flow, if I remember correctly.

I think it would be nice to have a basic support for paypal only in solidus.
To allow people to easily integrate the standard paypal flow without having to deal with the long approval process of Braintree just to use PayPal.
