Is there an existing issue for this?

Current Behavior

I use two keyboards - Hacker's Keyboard and HeliBoard.
Both keyboards offer word suggestions as you type, e.g. when entering a message using ... GChat, Signal, Skype, Telegram, Zangi and probably loads more ....

When entering a message in session neither keyboard offers word suggestions, auto-complete or auto-spelling. (Both keyboard provide such features).

This seams to be consistent with session, ''telling'' the keyboard not to offer suggestions (e.g. when entering as password).

Expected Behavior

When entering a message I expect Session to allow a keyboard to offer word suggestions, auto-complete and auto-spelling to function (where keyboard provides such features).

This will bring session into line with GChat, Signal, Skype, Telegram, Zangi and probably loads more ....

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Application running.
  2. Select a contact
  3. Select the message compose field
  4. Users chosen keyboard (with word suggestion capability) is opened
  5. Start composing a message, no word suggestions are shown and auto-complete & auto-spelling do not function (where keyboard provides such features).

Android Version

Android 10

Session Version

1.20.8 (3905 - 75e2b8)

Anything else?

Other message services - GChat, Signal, Skype, Telegram, Zangi and probably loads more .... allow keyboards to offer word suggestions when composing a message.

Thanks for the feedback.
We made the change in an existing branch. It won't be live until later on because we have a feature update coming first, but it fixed in the code and will be available as soon as we can.
