I would like the developers to consider changing the license of this project to match PySCF, i.e. use the Apache license.
Many companies, including my employer, are averse to copyleft licenses. I can contribute to PySCF but not gpu4pyscf. This is problematic since, in my case, the GPU stuff is what is most interesting.
The benefits to gpu4pyscf is the opportunity for more users and more developers. GPL prevents adoption in projects with other licenses and greatly complicates a range of activities. Even a free and open-source code like NWChem cannot interact directly with GPL software.
