Short-course on requisite knowledge representation and computational knowledge inference technologies. Teach the course at the Evolution Meetings from 2018 to 2020

Contract assessment w/ Data Carpentry.

Syllabus (2 days)

  • What is an ontology?
  • Phenotype ontologies (Phenoscape)
  • Logic/reasoning in Protege
  • Curating data in Phenoscape (Phenex/Phenote)
  • OntoTrace
  • Semantic similarity
  • End with project/idea talks

Travel grants

  • Elixir?

Include demonstration of comparative analysis w/ ontologies in R (Sergei leading?)

Present in reverse order, so application first, working back down to phenotype ontologies.
