Nickel menu not showing after following steps

Hi I spend days of trying but nickel menu is not showing up on my kobo libra h20. I followed the steps, reset my ereader and restart it but it doesnt seem to work.

I'm having the same issue on Kobo Libra color using macOS and firmware is 4.40.23081

Hey, I am wondering if I can help...
I had it installed using chromebook.
The way I did is: throw KoboRoot.tgz into /KOBOeReader/.kobo, reboot, customize configuration.txt
I can send you the config if you want...

I'm reinstalling a Kobo Clara HD that previously worked with Nickelmenu, KOReader and Plato.
Upon trying to use the "one-click setup" as well as the "Nickelmenu" (KoboRoot.tgz), none of them leads to Nickelmenu appearing in the bottom-right corner.
It did install KFmon, and I can access Koreader and Plato through their specific .png files

Im not saying with sarcasm, did you try completely shutting down and rebooting? This was apparently something physically needed to do vs it syncing.

Additionally I found that I had to directly place the zip (KoboRoot.tgz) into the .Kobo file.

I’m not a great source of knowledge on this I just know there’s are the areas I personally messed up in.

Thanks for offering a troubleshoot, but, sadly, it's neither of these for me.
I'm sure everything got installed and I have tried shutting down the device and rebooting it cleanly.
Perhaps something in a recent FW change makes the installation fail?
