Why did Vue3 delete the emit return value?

I want to retrieve a return value from an emit event in Vue, like this:

const res = emit("xxx")

However, the emit event returns void. I found a workaround by using props to receive an onXXX function. But in this issue, it was mentioned that this feature was added and then removed. I believe that returning a value from emit could be more consistent with the separation of concerns between props and emit, and it seems technically feasible. I'm a bit confused, so I would like to ask why it was removed. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify this.
