Differentiating between a car and a police car

I am new to autoware, so please excuse my simplistic question. I have a requirement to have the autonomous vehicle pull over whenever an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind. Can the perception system be trained to distinguish between a car and a police car ? Can the perception system recognize the red (or blue) flashing lights ? Any suggested reading material or approaches would be greatly appreciated
