How does the -gtk-appended GUI binary and its suffix-absent counterpart differ?

When I unpack 12.6.linux, I see a textadept and textadept-gtk binary. Both appear to invoke identical GUIs. How should I determine which to utilise?

The textadept binary uses the Qt widget toolkit. The textadept-gtk binary uses the GTK widget toolkit. It's a matter of personal preference. The manual (https://orbitalquark.github.io/textadept/manual.html#running) says to run textadept. You would only run textadept-gtk if you insist on using GTK applications.

@orbitalquark, thanks. It'd be a little more intuitive if textadept were named textadept-qt.
