A draft:

label:
pacemaker neuron

definition:
a central nervous system neuron that generates rhythymic bursts of action potential. This rhythmic activity arises from voltage- and time-dependent ion fluxes, which create fluctuations in the membrane potential known as "drive potentials" or "pacemaker potentials". This neuron type can be found in the cortex, spinal cord, basal ganglia, thalamus, locus coeruleus, hypothalamus, ventral tegmentum area, hippocampus, and amygdala.

comments: This neuron type is associated with many functions, including sleep, wakefulness, arousal, motivation, addiction, memory consolidation, cognition, and fear.

Reasonable case for adding pacemaker neuron as a grouping term, but this ticket if specifically for the pacemaker neuron of the suprachiasmatic nucleus

I am aware. I just started with the grouping term.

I think your grouping term may only apply to some of the SCN pacemaker cells. See final section here: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/describe-the-pacemaker-cells-o-T1bhMHaZSNGnRWx2TprQtA. Important emphasis here is circadian function I think.
