OMG, let this issue opened. I am using numix-gtk-theme theme, this is why I report the issue here.
Common @khurshid-alam "I don't know some stuff then I will close it" is not an excuse. Let the issue opened for someone who knows how to solve. @megax is adding here, so we have 2 guys with the same problem.

The problem happens with Numix and Numix Daily.

~ » sudo apt search numix-gtk-theme lheck@moon

@leoheck
Issue was closed because it may not be a gtk theme issue.

Can you test with Numix-Daily PPA (https://launchpad.net/~numix/+archive/ubuntu/numix-daily)? Numix stable ppa also creates a folder "Numix Daily"......Please ignore it for now and remove stable theme completely". Also try with different icon themes.

With Numix and Ubuntu-Mono icon theme I couldn't reproduce this with Gtk-3.20 (gtk3 inkscape). However it could be a issue with gtk2 inkscape.

@khurshid-alam thank you for reopen it. My first post was using Numix Daily which I always use. My last post was using with Numix (stable). So, lets organize our results.

Themes with this bug:

  • Numix
  • Numix Daily

Themes without this bug: (menus-bg with the same color as window-bg)

  • Arch
  • Arch Dark
  • Arch Darker
  • Adwaita
  • Radiance

Hi,

I'm having a similar problem using the arc-dark gtk theme and the Numix-Reborn icon theme. Basically, if I click any of the icons in the main Inkscape window, such as Create 3D boxes, the background of the icon does not change color (i.e. it is impossible to distinguish which button was clicked).

Any feedback?

Thanks

Inkscape doesn't use symbolic icons for those menus. So no point putting symbolic icons in icon theme is point less.

As fot gtk-theme, only solution is to paint inkscape toolbar light. But inkscape doesn't provide any style classes to change that (it is still gtk2). May be for gtk-3 it is possible. So in other words, it is an inkscape issue. I can't do anything here.
