The 'Original' Bug

[The team marked this bug as a duplicate of the following bug]

Able to enter number as a gender

image.png

I am able to enter a number as a gender, this should not be allowed right, as genders are words?

[original: nus-cs2113-AY2324S2/pe-interim#1835] [original labels: severity.Low type.FunctionalityBug]

Their Response to the 'Original' Bug

[This is the team's response to the above 'original' bug]

We do not wish to comment on what can someone's gender be/not be.

Items for the Tester to Verify

❓ Issue duplicate status

Team chose to mark this issue as a duplicate of another issue (as explained in the Team's response above)

  • I disagree

Reason for disagreement: [replace this with your explanation]

❓ Issue response

Team chose [response.Rejected]

  • I disagree

Reason for disagreement: If your point was that you did not want to assume gender, it would be better if you included the male and female and then an other option for those who do not identify as such to be inclusive. However, being able to input absolutely anything into the gender section is a bit extreme and definitely still a flaw.

❓ Issue severity

Team chose [severity.VeryLow]
Originally [severity.Medium]

  • I disagree

Reason for disagreement: It is medium as if someone enters their gender wrongly by spelling it wrongly, they have to go through the whole process of changing it. Instead, with fixed options like male, female, and others (in which the user can specify), users would not have to face the occasional incovenience of inputting something wrongly while also still being inclusive of everyone.
