With AWS, you have the capability

• to start up an existing AMI (e.g. Ubuntu, Windows, Linux, macOS)
• customize your AMI (install software on the instance)
• save your customized AMI

To Customize an Image (we assume you started an Ubuntu 20.04 Pro LTS - Focal Instance)

• Go to your Instances Page

• Click the checkbox to select your desired instance, Click Actions, select Images and templates, and select Create template from instance

• On the Create Launch Template page, give your template a name.

• Click Create launch template
