neurostore's definition of annotations: similar to a design matrix in a mass univariate analysis, each row in an annotation represents an analysis (e.g., a contrast between two conditions (houses - faces) and each column is a potential regressor to weigh the individual analysis in the meta-analysis.

NIDM: annotations represent formalized descriptions of terms and their relationships to other terms to formally describe how an (meta)analysis was completed (provenance).

possible connections:

  • when adding columns to neurostore annotations (like subject_size, task) they can be connected to specific NIDM ontologies.
  • when a meta analysis is run, be able to export the results in a NIDM-Results format
  • adding addiitonal search abilities to isolate studies of interest using metadata (e.g., only want studies that include participants with parkinsons) and harmonize the metadata for definitions, etc.
