As described in this article, we convert fragments (collections of voxels), to states comprised of endpoints and endpoint orientations.

However, this process produces poor estimates in some cases, and its accuracy is not quantified. So we should

  • Quantify the accuracy of endpoint/endpoint orientation
  • Improve the current estimation method if possible

Here is a good starting place to find where the state estimation is done in the code.
