I use backupsms+ now that saves the call log and sms's to an IMAP server.

But this one makes more sense.

@gdamjan it's a very nice idea i have since a long time but i miss some time. You can contribute if you want to help us to improve this :)

I think the next release will be the time to do this, now we have SMS restore :)
