There are a few ideas I have for improvements around pinned requests:

Show a "pinned by other instructors" bucket under the unpinned queue (which would resolve this)
Display a pinned bucket to students (Pinned should be displayed to students #97)
Better notification handling about when you're up next to be helped (Next to be helped alert behaves oddly with pinned requests #94)
