Netgear A8000 (AXE3000) WiFi 6E USB Cannot Detect 6Ghz WiFi SSID on Linux Mint #572
-
I just bought this Netgear A8000 (AXE3000) WiFi 6E USB adapter to replace my previous TP-Link USB adaptor. Although this Netgear one is "plug and play" on my Linux Mint, it cannot detect my Wifi 6E 6Ghz SSID. Do I have to update the firmware? lsusb

Do you mean you're using A8000 as AP? If so: #555 (comment) If as STA instead, the AP config still needs to follow the above, but also check your regulatory domain allows 6GHz: |

Have to? .., probably not but you are welcome to do so: As far as why you are not seeing the 6 GHz SSID, it could be a few things. I think Klaaktu has a couple of good ideas. You could also tell us what channel is in use and some info about the Linux Mint you are using. What version and what kernel? |

This is my PC. Kernel: 6.8.0-49-generic arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 13.2.0 clocksource: tsc I will try to figure out how to upgrade my firmware. I am not a very technical Linux user and this is all new to me that the WiFi USB drivers do not work properly. |

Set REGDOMAIN=AU was already set in /etc/default/crda I would like to try to get it working without upgrading the firmware first. |

At least I found out I am using mt7921u now. |

No problem if you aren't a Linux guru. We can probably help. I don't think this is a driver problem. The mt7921u driver is solid. This appears to be a wireless regulatory problem. I'll see what I can dig up. |

I'm back with some things to try: Go to the Main Menu of this site: https://github.com/morrownr/USB-WiFi Select the menu item that says Try no. 2 and no. 3, one at a time, to see if either one helps. Let me know. |

Okay, so 3 worked. That means it was a Wireless Regulatory issue and not the driver. Not sure what could have caused this but at least you have a way to override and make it work. |
