Bug Description

I installed Signal on my android 15 phone.

I installed Molly-FOSS version 7.29.4-1-FOSS on my android 15 tablet.

In Molly-FOSS on the tablet, I select the options to link it as a linked device to the main device (phone) that has Signal on it. In Signal on the phone I take a picture of the QR code that Molly on the tablet presents. Then Molly never completes linking, it simply shows the rotation circle seemingly for eternity. I don't see any error message on either device. Both devices are on the same wifi network if that matters.

(P.S.: I cannot access Molly's settings to produce the URL for the debug log since I just installed Molly so at this stage I do not see a way to access Molly's settings.)

Out of curiosity, I uninstalled and installed many other previous versions, going back as far as version 7.1.3. Unfortunately, this issue occurred in every one of them. It seems they changed something on Signal's side regarding the connection method.

Same issue for me as well.

  • Google Pixel Tablet

For me, the device I'm trying to link:

  • Samsung S6 Lite
  • Android 15
  • Molly-v7.29.4-1
But interestingly, my main device is a pixel 6a

Yes, I can confirm, I also hadn't had success with older versions. (I did not try older Signal versions, only `v7.30.2)

Same issue here. Been trying to link an Android tablet to my main device. I scan the QR code and then I'm just presented with a spinning circle.

Same here. It's still a pretty recent issue. I was trying to link my Huawei P30 Pro to my iPhone Xr, but failed. At first I thought it was me who did something wrong but I checked it several times with other phones and even with emulator. None of these worked. Hope the issue gets resolved soon.

Same issue here. Main device on iOS 18 and trying linking on Molly (Android 15). Is it possible that Signal is blocking 3rd party apps?

Probably a latest version mismatch.
It works with this pre release.

Exactly. This bug should be fixed in version 7.32.2-1. While we upload it to F-droid as beta, you can download directly from GitHub Releases.
